About The Ladyfinger Cactus
The Mammillaria elongata, commonly referred to as Ladyfinger Cactus, is a species of Cacti native to central Mexico with dark green stems and bronze-orange spines. This drought-tolerant species creates clusters of offsets that can easily be propagated to form new plants. Under optimal conditions, it may surprise you with delicate pink or yellow flowers in Spring.
Note: Our cacti aren’t cuttings—they’re fully rooted plants! This means they’re already established and ready to thrive in their new home. Succulents naturally have shallow roots, so don’t be surprised if that’s what you see, it’s a completely natural trait!

Small
Approximately 5" in diameter, fits plants in a 4" grow pot or smaller
Medium
Approximately 7" in diameter, fits plants in a 6" grow pot or smaller
Large
Approximately 10-12" in diameter, fits plants in a 10" grow pot or smaller
Massive
Approximately 12-14" in diameter, fits plants in a 12" grow pot or smaller
Watering Requirements
Water every 2-3 weeks, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrives in bright direct light, but can tolerate bright indirect light.
Humidity Requirements
Cacti prefer low humidity levels, so it's best to keep them in a dry environment. Avoid placing them in a bathroom or other area with high humidity, as this can cause fungal diseases to develop or the soil to remain moist for too long.

Why is my Ladyfinger Cactus growing long, skinny, and pale at the tips?
Your plant is most likely suffering from etiolation caused by low light conditions. Move the cactus to your absolute brightest window, ideally a south-facing sill that gets 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
How do you get a Ladyfinger Cactus to produce flowers?
From late fall to early spring, place the cactus in a cooler room, ideally between 50-60F, and withhold water almost entirely. This cool, dry rest period simulates the desert winter and signals the plant to set its spring flower buds. Once spring arrives, move the plant back into intense, direct sunlight and resume watering. The sudden shift in temperature and light acts as a biological trigger, forcing the buds to burst into bloom around the upper crown of the stems.
