About The Angel Wings Begonia
The Begonia maculata, or Angel Wings Begonia, is an easy care cane Begonia native to tropical South America that gets its name from the foliage resembling wings. This Begonia has glossy leaves that grow on thick upright stems and blooms light pink to red flowers during the Summer months under optimal conditions.

Watering Requirements
Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out halfway down between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrive in medium to bright indirect light. Not suited for direct sun unless coming from the morning hours.
Humidity Requirements
Begnonias prefer higher humidity if possible, preferably above 40%. Consider incorporating a humidifier to boost humidity levels more consistently if the air in the home is dry.

How often should you water an Angel Wing Begonia?
Water your Angel Wing Begonia once the top half of soil has dried out completely, typically once a week depending on conditions. These cane-stemmed begonias prefer their soil to remain moist but never soggy. Always use a well-draining potting mix and a container with drainage holes.
Why are my Angel Wing Begonia leaves turning yellow or dropping?
Sudden leaf drop and yellowing are commonly caused by overwatering, low humidity, or sudden temperature drops. You can easily fix this by allowing the soil to dry out a bit more between waterings and keeping the plant away from drafty windows or heating vents. Placing a small humidifier nearby will also keep the air moist and prevent the leaf edges from crisping.
