Plant Bio

Alocasia 'Polly' is a cultivar of alocasia which has become known as 'African mask', for its striking shape. Its origins remain unknown, but it was likely bred in a private collection. Alocasia are aroids in the family, Araceae, and are related to other popular houseplants. Aroids have evolved from semi-aquatic, swamp-dwelling ancestors, which is why they can be easily propagated in water. Most alocasia are generally unassuming, and primarily foliage, but when they flower, their flowers are fragrant, often smelling of musk, or fruity, like apples.

Distinctly dramatic.
