Victoria Falls earns its name honestly. Each pale blue fall carries a bright patch of white in the center, lit up by a crisp white beard, so the flower catches light the way sun glances off rushing water. Ruffled, broad-petaled, and carried on tall 40-inch stems, it is a Dykes Medal winner that has been in gardens long enough to earn historic status with the American Iris Society.
This is a rebloomer, which means you get the classic late spring to early summer flush and then a second round in late summer or early fall. It thrives in sun to part shade across zones 4-9, tolerates dry spells once settled, and works just as well in a large container on a sunny patio as it does anchoring a perennial border.
Plant a few this season and you will have a clump worth dividing in a couple of years.
