Newly planted thornless blackberry bushes need watering 2–3 times a week to establish their shallow root systems. Established bushes in the ground need a deep soak once a week during dry spells, especially while setting fruit. Potted thornless blackberries dry out much faster and often require daily watering during peak summer heat.

How and when should you prune a thornless blackberry bush?
Prune thornless blackberry bushes immediately after harvest and again in late winter. After summer fruiting ends, cut old, dead fruiting canes (floricanes) down to ground level to allow room for new growth. In late winter, tip first-year green canes (primocanes) back to about 4–5 feet to encourage lateral branching, which produces maximum fruit the following season.
