Watering Requirements
Newly planted trees need regular watering 1-2 times a week during their first growing season to establish strong roots, while established in-ground trees generally only need a deep soaking once every 1–2 weeks during summer dry spells. Potted redbuds dry out faster and may require daily checking in peak summer heat.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrives in full to partial sun, preferably morning sun and afternoon shade. They can tolerate full sun in cooler northern climates, but they should be shielded from intense afternoon sun in warmer southern climates to protect their leaves.
