About The Ponytail Palm
The Ponytail Palm is great for beginners, people who travel, and anyone who's looking for a very low-maintenance but interesting houseplant. So long as it's not over-watered, it should thrive in most conditions. Fun fact: Though the "ponytail" part of its name is spot-on, this plant isn't a true palm — it's actually a succulent, hence its preference for dry soil.
- Each plant is unique; size and shape fluctuate by season so all measurements are shown as a range
- Small plant measures between 5-9 inches tall from bottom of the grow pot to the top of the foliage
- Medium plant measures between 8-12 inches tall from bottom of the grow pot to the top of the foliage
- Large plant measures between 2-3 feet tall from bottom of the grow pot to the top of the foliage
- Large plants benefit from brighter light to help retain their mature foliage
- Large plants require less frequent waterings due to their higher volume of soil
- If you purchase a large plant with a planter, the planter will ship separately

Watering Requirements
Water every 1-2 weeks in direct light, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrives in bright indirect to direct light.
Humidity Requirements
Palms prefer higher humidity if possible, preferably above 40%. Consider incorporating a humidifier to boost humidity levels more consistently if the air in the home is dry.

Yes, this plant is safe for homes with pets.
How often should I water a Ponytail Palm?
The bulbous base of a Ponytail Palm (called a caudex) acts a water tank to help the plant survive droughts. Water the plant deeply, then let the soil dry out completely before watering again. Indoors, this usually means watering just once every 10-14 days depending on conditions in the home.
Why are the tips of my Ponytail Palm leaves turning brown?
Brown leaf tips can be fairly common for a Ponytail Palm and is usually caused by underwatering or dry indoor air. You can feel free to use a clean pair of pruners to trim off the dry, brown tips, and either adjust your watering frequency or add a humidifier to the room if the air is very dry.
Can a Ponytail Palm grow in a dark room?
No. While it can survive for a limited time in low light by consuming its stored water reserves, a Ponytail Palm absolutely craves bright, direct sunlight to grow healthily. Without enough sun, its leaves will stop curling beautifully and its growth will completely stall.
