Ponca is a thornless blackberry bred for flavor above all else. The berries ripen early in June with a rich, balanced sweetness and stay remarkably consistent from berry to berry, so you are not sorting the good ones from the sour ones as you pick.
The plants are very erect, vigorous, and highly productive, which makes them easy to keep tidy along a fence line, in a row at the edge of the garden, or in a large patio container. Expect 4-6 ft. tall canes and no scratched-up forearms at harvest time.
