The Polka Dot plant (Hypoestes phyllostachya) is prized for its compact foliage adorned with vibrant splashes of pink, perfect for plant parents who want their greenery with a little flair. Thrives in moderate to bright, indirect light and loves a bit of humidity, the Polka Dot plant is ideal for brightening up small spaces or even terrariums!

Watering Requirements
Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out half way down between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrives in medium to bright indirect light. Not suited for direct, afternoon sun.
Humidity Requirements
Hypoestes prefers higher humidity if possible, preferably above 40%. Consider incorporating a humidifier to boost humidity levels more consistently if the air in the home is dry.

Why is my Pink Polka Dot Plant getting leggy and how do I fix it?
A leggy, stretched-out growth habit is primarily caused by insufficient lighting and a lack of regular pruning. You can easily fix and prevent this by moving the plant to a brighter location with plenty of bright indirect light. Additionally, regularly pinching or pruning back the top two leaves on growing stems forces the plant to branch out, resulting in a much bushier, more compact shape overtime.
How often should you water a Pink Polka Dot Plant?
Water your Pink Polka Dot Plant when the top half of soil feels dry, which may be one to two times per week depending on your home's environment. These plants are notorious for dramatically wilting the moment they become too dry, but they will bounce back quickly once thoroughly soaked.
