The Philodendron Silver gets its common name from the silvery satin look of its leaves, as well as its wiry philodendron-like vines.
Thrives in medium to bright indirect light, but can tolerate low indirect light.
Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. Increase frequency with increased light.
This plant is not a true Philo, but a Scindapsus pictus.
Philodendron Silver is actually a form of Scindapsus pictus characterized by its wiry vines and dark green leaves with silver splotches. Like other closely-related aroids, this plant's leaves will change in shape with age (similar to the Monstera). The leaves can be found in the wild sprawled out along the ground and climbing up trees. Their silvery iridescence is theorized to help these shade plants – that are found in their native habitat trailing across the ground and climbing up trees – make the most out of poor light conditions.
