About The Large Sago Palm
The Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) is great for anyone who's looking for a low-maintenance but interesting houseplant. This charming, ancient-looking plant can bring a touch of the tropics to your indoor or outdoor spaces. So long as it's not over-watered, it should thrive in most conditions.
- Each plant is unique; size and shape fluctuate by season so all measurements are shown as a range
- This variety is a multi-head clump type and doesn't possess a single trunk
- Large plant measure between 2-3 feet tall from bottom of the grow pot to the top of the foliage
- Arrives in a nursery grow pot nestled in your planter choice

Small
Approximately 5" in diameter, fits plants in a 4" grow pot or smaller
Medium
Approximately 7" in diameter, fits plants in a 6" grow pot or smaller
Large
Approximately 10-12" in diameter, fits plants in a 10" grow pot or smaller
Massive
Approximately 12-14" in diameter, fits plants in a 12" grow pot or smaller
Watering Requirements
Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrives in bright indirect light to direct sunlight. Not suited for low light conditions.
Humidity Requirements
Normal room humidity can work, but the Sago Palm can benefit from higher humidity conditions. Consider incorporating a humidifier to boost humidity levels more consistently if the air in the home is dry.

No, this plant is not recommended in homes with pets.

Despite its name and tropical look, the Sago Palm isn’t actually a palm tree at all! It is a Cycad, a prehistoric family of plants that has been on Earth for over 280 million years, meaning it actually shared the planet with the dinosaurs!
Is the Sago Palm toxic to dogs and cats?
Yes, the Sago Palm is deadly toxic to pets and humans. Every single part of the plant contains a severe toxin called cycasin. Ingesting even a single seed or chewing a leaf can cause acute, fatal liver failure in dogs and cats. Keep this plant entirely out of homes or areas with pets.
