The Pygmy Date Palm is a popular tropical palm known for its arching, feather-like leaves and its thick brown trunk. It is a slow-growing plant, but when well cared for can reach up to 6 feet in height, giving your space instant jungle vibes. Sized to ship best, our large Pygmy Date Palm arrives with room to grow as it adapts to your home’s conditions.

  • Each plant is unique; size and shape fluctuate by season so all measurements are shown as a range
  • Large plant measures between 2-3 feet tall from bottom of the grow pot to the top of the foliage
  • Arrives in 10" diameter grow pot

Can you grow a Pygmy Date Palm indoors?
Yes, but it requires a bright light location and can even handle a few hours of direct morning sun. Be sure to keep your Pygmy Date Palm in a bright light or under a grow light indoors. If kept in a dim room, it will slowly drop its lower fronds and decline in health.

Does the Pygmy Date Palm produce edible dates?
While female Pygmy Date Palms do produce small clusters of dark, fleshy fruits after flowering, they are mostly seed and contain very little flesh. While technically edible, they are not the sweet, plump dates you buy at the grocery store, which come from its giant cousin, Phoenix dactylifera!
