Large Alocasia Regal Shield Care & Information
Alocasias in general are known for their stunning foliage, and this ‘Regal Shield’ hybrid is no exception. It's named for its large — up to 20 inches! — triangular, shield-shaped leaves, which are a deep, dark green (almost black in some cases) and velvety to the touch, with a contrasting purple-y mauve (the color of royalty) underside. This large plant arrives up to 30" tall and can grow up to 5' feet under optimal conditions (it prefers a higher humidity environment).

Thrives in medium to bright indirect light. Alocasia can go into a dormancy phase and dieback during fall and winter. Increasing light and humidity can help deter this.Watering requirements
Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out half way down between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light. This plant can benefit from extra humidity. Alocasia can be sensitive to hard tap water. Try using filtered water or leaving water out overnight before using.Is this plant pet-friendly?
