A member of the prayer plant family, Marantaceae, the Calathea Vittata will raise and lower its leaves from day to night as a part of its circadian rhythm. It is a beautiful and unique pet-friendly houseplant.

The Calathea Vittata is a neotropical rhizomatous herbaceous perennial native to South America. Being a prayer plant, you will be able to experience it's nysticasty movements, opening and closing its leaves from day to night in order to maximize light absorption. It's tapering, cream striped leaves makes it a striking ornamental to have in the home. Growing as a terrestial plant in the understory of forests the plant will benefit from higher humidity and diffused light.
