Bromeliads are tropical plants native to Central and South America, known for their bold foliage and vivid, long-lasting flowers. They thrive in bright, indirect light and enjoy moderate watering. They are pet-friendly, slow-growing, and resilient, making them perfect for both new plant parents and seasoned collectors looking to add a splash of color to any space.

Approximately 5" in diameter, fits plants in a 4" grow pot or smaller

Watering Requirements
Water the potting mix every 1–2 weeks, allowing it to dry out between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light. If your Bromeliad has a water tank, the center area created by overlapping leaves, fill it with water every week. As water cups tend to collect debris, empty out each week and add fresh water. Bromeliads can be sensitive to hard tap water so try using filtered water or leaving water out overnight before using.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrives in bright indirect light, but can tolerate a few hours of direct morning sun.
Humidity Requirements
Normal room humidity can work, but Bromeliads can benefit from higher humidity conditions. Consider incorporating a humidifier to boost humidity levels more consistently if the air in the home is dry.

How do you water a Bromeliad with a central cup?
Many popular indoor bromeliads, including Guzmania and Vriesea species, are "tank" bromeliads that feature a natural, watertight rosette at their base. For these varieties, pour water directly into the central cup rather than just watering the soil. Keep this reservoir roughly a quarter to half full of fresh water, and flush it out every 1-2 weeks with clean water to prevent stagnation, bacterial buildup, and odor.
How much light does an indoor Bromeliad need to stay colorful?
To maintain their vibrant, neon-colored bracts, most indoor bromeliads thrive best in bright, indirect sunlight to some morning direct sun. While they are highly adaptable and can survive in lower light conditions, low light will cause their flower spikes to fade prematurely.
What should you do when a Bromeliad flower dies?
A bromeliad plant only flowers once in its lifetime. Once the flower spike turns brown and dies, you can carefully snip it off at the base with sterile pruners. While the original mother plant will slowly decline over the next few months, it will redirect its energy to produce miniature baby clones, known as pups, around its base to continue its lifecycle!
How do you propagate Bromeliad pups?
Propagating a bromeliad is actually simple! Leave the small baby offsets attached to the fading mother plant until they are at least 1/2 the size of the mother plant and have begun developing their own small root systems. Use a sharp, clean knife or pruners to cut the pup away at the base, and pot it into a well-draining potting mix.
