About The Bird's Nest Fern
The Bird's Nest 'Victoria' is a low-maintenance fern that thrives as a houseplant. Rippled, bright green leaves grow from the center of a nest-like crown, hence the name. When growing indoors, these fronds can reach up to two feet in length. This plant thrives in indirect sunlight, loves humidity (try them in your bathroom!), and it’s pet-friendly.

Approximately 5" in diameter, fits plants in a 4" grow pot or smaller

Watering Requirements
Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out half way down between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light. Do not water directly into the center of your fern, but instead, water around it.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrives in medium to bright indirect light, but can tolerate low indirect light.
Humidity Requirements
Normal room humidity can work, but the Bird’s Nest Fern can benefit from higher humidity conditions. Consider incorporating a humidifier to boost humidity levels more consistently if the air in the home is dry.

Why are the edges of my Bird’s Nest Fern turning brown and crispy?
Crispy brown leaf margins or tips are most likely caused by underwatering or low humidity. If the air around the fern is dry, run a dedicated humidifier nearby, and ensure you water as soon as the soil dries out halfway, providing a thorough soak to evenly saturate the potting mix.
How do you water a Bird’s Nest Fern without killing it?
The key to watering a Bird's Nest Fern is keeping the soil damp but never soggy, while avoiding the center (or crown) of the plant. Trapped water in the center cannot evaporate easily and can lead to crown rot which is fatal. Always pour water directly around the foliage at the base of the plant.
Why are the new leaves on my fern growing in deformed or stunted?
Stunted or deformed new fronds are typically caused by a lack of water or insufficient light. Without enough moisture or light during its growth phase, the emerging leaves may lack the strength to unfurl properly. To ensure healthy, normal growth, move your fern to a spot with bright, indirect light and make sure the soil stays consistently damp, watering once half the soil has dried out.
