Watering Requirements
Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrives in medium to bright indirect light. Not suited for low light areas or direct sun unless coming from the morning hours.
Humidity Requirements
Normal room humidity can work, but Apoballis can benefit from higher humidity conditions. Consider incorporating a humidifier to boost humidity levels more consistently if the air in the home is dry.

How often do I need to water my Apoballis Lavallaei?
You will want to water your Purple Sword when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch, which typically happens every 7 to 10 days. They prefer their soil to stay evenly moist but never soggy, so make sure you are using a well-draining potting mix and a container with drainage holes. If you let them sit in stagnant water, they will quickly protest by growing yellow leaves and developing root rot.
Why are my Purple Sword leaves getting crispy brown edges?
If you notice the tips and edges of your leaves turning dry and crispy, your plant is likely suffering from low humidity or too much direct sunlight. Try moving it slightly further away from the window and boosting the moisture in the air with a small humidifier or misting. On the flip side, if the plant gets too leggy and starts losing its striking silver patterns and deep purple undersides, it's telling you it needs a bit more indirect light.
