Learn how to care for the Heartleaf Philodendron!
The Heartleaf Philodendron (Philodendron hederaceum) is an evergreen perennial vine, native to Tropical America. It has the reputation of being one of the easiest houseplants. Known for its heart-shaped leaves and trailing vines, this Philodendron is particularly fitting for indoor settings because it is able to filter gaseous toxins from the air. In good indoor conditions, the Philodendron is a vigorous grower, trailing to 10 feet long!
General Care
Sunlight
Thrives in medium indirect light, but can tolerate low indirect light.
Water
Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. Increase frequency with increased light.
Humidity
Any humidity level will do, but moist air will help lead to larger leaves and faster growth.
Temperature
Average home temperature of 65°F-75°F. It’s best not to let it go below 60°F.
Size
Young Philos are merely 6” tall, but this plant is low and fast growing. Without trimming, it can eventually trail 10’ long.

This is generally a very easy-going plant.

Precautions
Poisonous but non-lethal sap causes skin irritation and burning of the mouth if ingested. Best practice is always to keep houseplants out of reach of small children and pets.
