Chamaedorea elegans

Also known as the neanthe bella palm or parlour palm, this is one of our favorite hard to kill plants. With the right care and many, many repottings, this palm can grow to well over 6 feet tall. But do not repot more than once a year, their roots like to relax. This has been a popular houseplant in the UK since Victorian times.

Light

Avoid bright light or the leaves will burn just like a pasty human.

Water

Water at least once a week. Let the top of soil go completely dry in-between waterings. Although the smaller the pot, the faster the soil dries out.

Extra Love

If you can increase the humidity around parlor palms, they will quietly love you.

Peperomia

There are literally over 1,000 types of peperomia plants, but this is considered one of the cutest. This tropical plants grow low and can feature flowers once mature. Peperomia are also one of the safest plants to grow around curious cats and dogs.

Medium light. Tolerates low light. Not suited for intense, direct sun.

Water

Water 1 or 2 times per week. Spring to summer, water as soon as potting mix begins to dry out. Fall to winter, allow mix to dry out almost completely before watering.

Peperomias will let you know as soon as they're not feeling the love by wilting, this is a great indicator that you need to water.

Also known as a "Nerve Plant", this South American flowering plant is known for it's colorful and vein-y leaves. The Fittonia was discovered by 19th century botanists Elizabeth and Sarah May Fitton.

Best suited for medium to low light, although Fittonias can tolerate a bright window...sill... with a sheer curtain.
