Watering Requirements
Water young trees deeply once a week during dry spells. Once apple trees matures, you can reduce the watering frequency. However, during periods of drought or extreme heat, you may still need to water the tree every 10–14 days.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrives in full sun, needing at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth and fruit production, making a southern exposure the most ideal planting location.

How long does a Honeycrisp tree take to bear fruit?
Dwarf or semi-dwarf Honeycrisp trees typically begin producing fruit within 2-4 years after planting. Since nursery trees sold at 5-6 feet tall are usually already 2-3 years old, they will often yield their first harvest within just 1-2 years after you plant them!
Why are my Honeycrisp apples small, or why does the tree skip fruiting every other year?
Honeycrisp trees often suffer from biennial bearing (producing a massive crop one year and virtually nothing the next) and small fruit if overloaded with apples. For overloaded trees, thin the fruit clusters in late spring (2-4 weeks after flowering). Remove all but the single largest, central apple in each cluster, leaving about 6 inches of space between individual apples. This prevents stress and ensures an abundant crop every year.
