About The Echeveria Garotto
Echeveria Garotto is a succulent in the Crassulaceae family native to Mexico. This vibrant plant is prized for its large rosette growth habit, adorned with blueish green pigmentation. The colors are more prominent when exposed to direct sunlight making it perfect for a small windowsill or sunny space.

Watering Requirements
Water every 2-3 weeks in direct light, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrives in bright direct light, but can tolerate bright indirect light.
Humidity Requirements
Succulents prefer low humidity levels, so it's best to keep them in a dry environment. Avoid placing them in a bathroom or other area with high humidity, as this can cause fungal diseases to develop or the soil to remain moist for too long.

Why is my Echeveria getting tall and skinny?
If your succulent is stretching out, losing its compact shape, or growing wide spaces between its leaves, it is experiencing etiolation. This is a sign that your plant is not getting enough sunlight and is physically stretching toward the nearest light source to get more. Gradually move the plant to a brighter location, like a south- or west-facing window, and prune off any leggy growth to restart the plant.
Why is my Echeveria losing its color and turning green?
When a vibrant pink, purple, or blue Echeveria reverts to a dull green, it is suffering from a lack of sunlight. Echeveria produce intense colors as a natural protective response to high light levels known as "succulent stress" which is entirely natural! Move your Echeveria to a location that receives 6 hours of bright, direct sunlight daily or place under a grow light.
What is the powdery coating on Echeveria leaves?
The chalky, matte film on your Echeveria’s leaves is a crucial biological defense mechanism called epicuticular wax, or farina, which acts as a natural sunscreen, repels water to prevent crown rot, and helps the plant retain moisture. You should avoid touching the leaves or using harsh leaf cleaners because this powdery coating rubs off easily and will not regenerate, leaving the plant smudged and more vulnerable to sunburn.
Why are my Echeveria's lower leaves drying up and falling off?
If only the oldest, bottom-most leaves are wrinkling, drying out like paper, and dropping off, this is completely normal shedding. As an Echeveria grows new leaves from its center rosette, it naturally reabsorbs the moisture and nutrients from its lowest leaves to fuel new growth.
