About The Column Cactus
The Column Cactus is a treelike columnar cactus that typically reaches between 3-6 feet in height when grown indoors. Species in the Browningia genus have drought-tolerant stems that range in color from blue to dark green with pronounced ribs. Like other cacti, this drought-tolerant species will pair well in any room with a sunny window!
Note: Our cacti aren’t cuttings—they’re fully rooted plants! This means they’re already established and ready to thrive in their new home. Succulents naturally have shallow roots, so don’t be surprised if that’s what you see, it’s a completely natural trait!

Small
Approximately 5" in diameter, fits plants in a 4" grow pot or smaller
Medium
Approximately 7" in diameter, fits plants in a 6" grow pot or smaller
Large
Approximately 10-12" in diameter, fits plants in a 10" grow pot or smaller
Massive
Approximately 12-14" in diameter, fits plants in a 12" grow pot or smaller
Watering Requirements
Water every 2-3 weeks, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light.
Sunlight Requirements
Thrives in bright direct light, but can tolerate bright indirect light.
Humidity Requirements
Cacti prefer low humidity levels, so it's best to keep them in a dry environment. Avoid placing them in a bathroom or other area with high humidity, as this can cause fungal diseases to develop or the soil to remain moist for too long.

Yes, this plant is safe for homes with pets.
Why is the base of my cactus turning brown and woody?
This is completely normal and healthy! It is a biological process in cacti called corking. As the cactus grows larger and heavier, the base turns into a woody, bark-like structure to support the top-heavy weight.
Why is my Cactus turning yellow and stretching out?
Your plant is most likely suffering from etiolation caused by low light conditions. Move the cactus to your absolute brightest window, ideally a south-facing sill that gets 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
Why is my Browningia cactus losing its frosty blue color and turning green?
In its native arid habitats of Peru, the cactus secretes this heavy blue wax to act as a natural sunscreen against intense, high-altitude UV rays. When grown indoors or in a dim room, the plant stops producing this wax because it doesn't need the protection, causing new growth to look standard green. Provide 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily by placing it on your brightest south-facing windowsill, or use a full-spectrum LED grow light.
