Famous for its long, conical panicles of fragrant, nectar-rich flowers that bloom continuously from summer to early autumn, it attracts butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, and other beneficial pollinators.
Do Butterfly Bushes attract butterflies to complete their life cycle?
While adult butterflies feed heavily on the nectar of Buddleja flowers, the bush does not serve as a host plant for native caterpillars. Pair Butterfly Bushes with native host plants like Milkweed (Asclepias) or Spicebush (Lindera benzoin) to support full caterpillar-to-butterfly life cycles.
When and how should you prune a Butterfly Bush?
