Variegated Banana Musa Information

About The Variegated Banana Musa

The Variegated Banana Musa is prized for its large, paddle-shaped leaves streaked with creamy white and vibrant green patterns. This eye-catching variegation gives it an exotic, ornamental appeal perfect for brightening up indoor spaces or adding lush texture to patios and gardens! While primarily grown for its stunning foliage, it can also produce small, decorative bananas under optimal conditions.

NOTE: Variegation may naturally vary from plant to plant, with some showing more white or green than others. However, with bright light and consistent care, the variegation often becomes more pronounced in new growth over time. It's normal to experience some browning as the plant acclimates to its new home.

Each plant is unique; size and shape fluctuate by season so all measurements are shown as a range

  • Large plant measures between 2-3 feet tall from bottom of the grow pot to the top of the foliage
  • Arrives in 10" diameter grow pot
  • Large plants benefit from brighter light to help retain their mature foliage
  • Large plants require less frequent waterings due to their higher volume of soil
  • If you purchase a large plant with a planter, the planter will ship separately
  • Stalks can bend during shipping; use caution while unpackaging

What are the common traits shared by all banana plants?
Despite their massive, tree-like appearance, all banana plants are actually gigantic herbaceous perennials and do not have true woody trunks. Instead, they all grow from a thick underground rhizome and form a central "pseudostem" made entirely of tightly overlapping leaf sheaths. They also share a love for high humidity, rapid growth rates, and producing large leaves that naturally tear in the wind to prevent the plant from blowing over.
