Plant Bio

Philodendron Silver is a form of Scindapsus pictus characterized by its wiry vines and dark green leaves with silver splotches. Like other closely-related aroids, this plant's leaves will change in shape with age (similar to a Monstera). The leaves can be found in the wild sprawled out along the ground and climbing up trees. The silvery iridescence is caused by a modification of chloroplasts into iridiplasts, with ordered, reflective pigments that focus and concentrate wavelengths of light. Even though some light is reflected away, the remainder is concentrated, and is theorized to help shade plants make the most of poor light conditions.

Silver maybe, but never second place.
