Plant Origins

Pantropical

Ubiquitously distributed across the tropics!

Plant Bio

Philodendron is a genus of herbaceous evergreen tropical plants which belongs to the aroid family Araceae. Brighter, more intense sunlight makes leaf variegation in the philodendron more pronounced. However, brighter light also leads to smaller individual leaf size as is typical for the family. Taxonomically, the genus Philodendron is considered to be a ‘trashbag’ genus. Newly-discovered plants that look like Philodendrons are placed in this group until they can be further parsed out. This is not uncommon even for the family, as many aroids tend to look like one another at some point in their life cycle.
