Haworthia fasciata

This South African succulent is member of the Aloe family. Currently scientists are researching compounds from the Haworthia plant for their cancer killing abilities. The genus is named after 18th and 19th century English botanist (and crab researcher) Adrian Hardy Haworth... who never actually saw a Haworthia in the wild.

Echeveria

These hardy succulents can tolerate everything from your fridgid offices to sunny windows. Some people know Echeveria by the name 'hens and chicks', but people also call a lot of succulents that. The genus is named after Atanasio Echeverria y Godoy, an 18th-century Mexican botanical artist aned naturalist. His drawings would have killed on Instagram.
