The Marianne II, stands stripped of color. But do not be mistaken, what may seem simple truly stands strong. The Marianne II in matte white glaze is transformed to a contemporary classic – a perfect display for our assortment of succulents.
Artist Judy Jackson’s planter has a humble respect for form, with detail that suggests much care went toward creating the imperfect perfect. The choice of white adds emphasis to the hand-etched ribbing of the stoneware. The Echeveria, which assumes slight difference in tone and shape by variety, forms large rosettes. The genus is named for the 18th century Mexican botanical artist Atanasio Echeverría, who joined botanical expeditions to draw newly discovered plants. The Marianne II may be minimal – but proves that white décor is dramatic, not dull.
